What are your braided rugs made from?
Our braided rugs are made from new wool cloth.
How are your braided rugs made?
Our rugs are braided with 3 strips of wool cloth and hand-laced into many
different shapes and sizes. See
Contents and Construction.
How do I order a custom braided rug?
Start by getting a quote for your size—either
call or e-mail us. If you are not able to come to our shop to order, please
see Samples in
Custom Braided Rugs. We will walk you through the process of selecting
colors, style and shape when you are ready to order.
What if I have a specific fabric or color scheme I need to match?
We can match most any colors. Sending a piece of fabric or wallpaper
when you request Samples is even better!
Can you make an odd-sized braided rug?
Yes, we can make any width and length you need.
Can any of the rugs on your website be made larger?
If we have the same or similar color wool, it can be made larger; but
whatever you add to the width you will add to the length. Please
contact us for
more info.
How do I care for my braided rug?
Turn your braided rug over and around frequently; at least once a year
for room-size braided rugs and more often for smaller rugs or rugs in high
traffic areas. Clean weekly with a suction vacuum; remove or turn off powerhead/beater
bar. Most spills will stay on the surface for easy cleanup. Other stains may be
removed with mild soap and water or a cleaner recommended for wool, but always
test for color-fastness. If more thorough cleaning is necessary, consult a
professional rug cleaner and make sure they also test for color-fastness. For
pet hair or lint we sell
large
surface lint rollers and refills. They pick up dirt, pet hair and crumbs on
rugs, floors, upholstery and fabrics and are handy for a quick pickup.
Do I need a pad for my braided rug?
Yes, unless it is going on carpet. The padding will keep small rugs
from sliding on the floor. It also helps dining chairs to slide back and forth
without putting strain on the braids. And it also prevents any sand that might
work its way through from scratching the floor. Do not use a pad with fibers, as
it will cause the rug to pill. We sell a quality thin rubber
padding that comes
in a variety of sizes (or call for odd size rugs).
Can my old handmade braided rug be repaired?
Depending on what needs to be done, some handmade rugs can be repaired.
Contact us for more info. We cannot repair rugs
that are machine-stitched.
Do you carry rug-braiding tools or have kits for making a braided rug?
Yes. We sell rug braiding supplies, as well as a
Beginner Braided Rug
Kit.
Do you ship international?
Yes—please see shipping information.
What forms of payment do you accept? Are there any taxes?
We accept checks (will wait for them to clear), MasterCard, Visa and
Discover. At this time New Hampshire has no sales tax.
